I have an eclectic taste in music. I primarily listen to classical when I'm working, reading or writing but listen to rock (whatever that is these days), some pop and even hip hop/rap mainly out of curiosity. I find that knowing what people listen to helps to understand their perspective on life.
Favorite Books, Writers, Genres:

I have no favorite author(s) and prefer nonfiction, biographies and read a lot of technical writing.
Favorite Movies, Actors, Genres:

Comedy. Too many to list.
Favorite TV Shows, Actors:

I haven't owned a TV in years. Never really cared for it.
Favorite Places:

Anywhere in the woods especially by streams or rivers. I love the beach but not one to just lay on the sand.

The old Mac is starting up consistently again, but you never know when it might suddenly turn off. Plus it's over eight years old. I just hope the new Mac actually still can recognize the old one as a "cousin" when it's plugged in! I'll keep you posted on any breakthroughs. Thanks for stopping by!

The "globe mode" only shows up on the old Mac as a temporary flashing display, then it reverts to "Question Mark Folder" mode. I read Apple's Help about transfers and they said I had to upgrade to FireWire 2.3 -- if I was running OS 9. But I was running OS X on that. The trouble is, I was never able to upgrade from OS 9.1 to 9.2, so maybe I lost some functionality there? I'll try connecting the old one to the internet some time and see if I can find the upgrade -- hope they still have it! Thanks for your help. If all else fails I could probably just buy another hard drive and transfer the files that way!

Dear Liberty:
Thanks for commenting on my article. I wanted to update you on the computer issue. I have connected the old and new iMacs with a new FireWire (6-to-6 pin) cable. But now I guess I need to upgrade my (old Mac) FireWire software to version 2.3, to facilitate the transfer. I got the old Mac to go into Network or Target Disk Mode (where it shows a little globe on the screen) but then it won't show the FireWire symbol. So now I ordered a little phone plug splitter so I can connect each Mac to the internet (one at a time). I'll let you know if I make any breakthroughs. Thanks again and have a great week!
